FORMATION OF MIGRANTS in the ENTREPRENEURIAL REALITY

<< Background >>With the increasing amount of migrants entering Europe in the past decade it is fundamental to make sure they are equipped with the right knowledge and resources to be able to lead good quality and successful lives in their new country.Migrants also represent an important resource to improve the economic health and general well-being of EU Member States, but in order for this to happen, it is essential that they successfully integrate into their host country in Europe and enjoy both economic and social inclusion.Data has demonstrated that there is still work to be done in this area since migrant unemployment rates are far higher than those of natives in the EU. By enabling migrants to start their own businesses and find independent work, the project FORMER sought to contribute to reducing the unemployment rate of this population.Therefore, the needs addressed by the project are: expanding the job opportunities of migrants by encouraging them to start their own business, promoting the entrepreneurial spirit among migrants, bridging a gap in the formal education system that has been neglected, increasing the chance of migrants to be economically and socially included.<< Objectives >>The first objective was to obtain a better understanding of the obstacles that immigrants experience while trying to start their own business.The second objective was to gather all the information that migrants need in order to start their own business.The third objective was to give young migrants specialized learning opportunities to improve their entrepreneurial knowledge and abilities.When attempting to work for themselves in their new host nation, immigrants encounter several obstacles. They often have less success than natives in obtaining the knowledge, assistance, and resources they need to start their own business. They particularly lack understanding of the cultural business customs and legal system in their host country. Therefore, one of the objectives was to provide migrants with the knowledge, resources and abilities to use their untapped potential to launch their own business.Therefore, through enhancing migrant workers' entrepreneurial abilities, economic inclusion would result from increased employment and income opportunities. Higher personal self-esteem and social inclusion will result from this. Facilitating inclusion and diversity is the project's top objective, and it's also one of the ERASMUS+ Program's << Implementation >>The project FORMER sought to contribute to reducing the unemployment rate of migrants through implementing three different initiatives: a needs research on the needs of young migrants in becoming self-employed, a practical guide that migrants can use to become self-employed and a webinar to educate migrant entrepreneurs on the required paperwork, licensing procedures, and business-specific skills to open a firm in their new nation.<< Results >>The concrete results were essentially two: a manual on self-employment and a webinar to educate migrant entrepreneurs on the required paperwork, licensing procedures, and business-specific skills to open a firm in their new nation.A Facebook group was also created which connected migrants from Turkey, Spain, Austria and Germany.The results produced during the life of the project were: target group needs’ research reports, a guide explaining how to become self-employed, PowerPoints structuring the Webinars, Facebook group with participants; a management, impact, sustainability and dissemination plan; a questionnaire and evaluation report; a logo and visual identity of the project.
