The BRIDGE Project – Building Resilient Institutions for Development in Global Health Education aims to enhance medical education in Tanzania by establishing a Network for Excellence in Global Health Education with two hubs, one at SFUCHAS-MOH-TTCIH (Ifakara, Kilombero Region), and one at Kairuki University (Dar Es Salaam). This Network will develop and implement innovative training programs focused on Global Health, addressing similarities and disparities between urban and rural healthcare systems. The project seeks to (1) enhance training quality in global health; (2) develop blended-learning and digital education programs; (3) strengthen institutional capacity through faculty training; (4) foster international cooperation between European and Tanzanian institutions to ensure long-term sustainability. Key project outcomes include: (1) establishing a Network for Excellence in Global Health with two operational hubs; (2) designing and delivering two structured training programs: a blended-learning CPD/CME course for professionals (comprising a MOOC) and a summer school for students; (3) implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support digital education; (4) training faculty members in innovative teaching methodologies; (5) fostering research on global health among students, by encouraging the production of research abstracts. The consortium brings together European and Tanzanian universities, healthcare institutions, and an NGO, ensuring a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach. The University of Bologna (coordinator) and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens contribute expertise in medical education and research, while ReadLab supports the integration of blended learning and digital tools. Kairuki University leads urban health training, while SFUCHAS and MOH-TTCIH focus on rural healthcare workforce development. Ifakara Health Institute and St. Francis Referral Hospital serve as associated partners, enhancing research capacity and clinical training.
