<< Background >>This project aimed to analyze the practices developed in adult care centers aimed at promoting well-being and personal care, as well as promoting the physical and mental health of older adults.The changing demographics in Europe show how the percentage of the elderly population is increasing. This represents a challenge for the every countries, which must guarantee the rights of these individuals, ensuring their well-being as well as adequate medical care.The healthcare and social care expenditures involved in caring for such a large number of people force the institutions to strive for the greatest possible efficiency. Therefore, we believe that promoting active aging, in which the physical and mental health of older adults is especially cared for, will result in lower healthcare costs and an increase in the quality of life of these individuals. These individuals will also be able to remain active in their personal environment, with all the positive benefits this entails for society, thanks to the knowledge and experience these individuals acquire, which they will be able to continue sharing intergenerationally for longer.<< Objectives >>The specific objectives established for this project were as follows:O1. Consolidation of a stable consortium that can develop this and other partnership projects.O2. Compile best practices implemented in adult care centers related to the physical and mental well-being of older users.O3. Formulate a proposal for possible actions to be implemented in adult care centers to promote active aging.O4. Disseminate the project results among the largest number of potentially interested individuals and organizations to achieve maximum impact.<< Implementation >>The project was implemented through a series of six activities:1. Coordination meeting #1 in Slovenia2. Coordination meeting #2 in Portugal3. Final meeting #3 in Spain4. Activities to identify best practices5. Development of the Manual with action proposals for promoting active aging in adult centers6. Implementation of the Dissemination, Operation, and Communication of Results Plan<< Results >>Regarding the expected results of the project, directly linked to the objectives, they were as follows:R1. A stable and operational consortium, coordinated through established cooperation mechanisms and in-person coordination meetings.R2. A compilation of thirty best practices implemented in adult centers related to the physical and mental health of older adults.R3. A manual with action proposals for promoting active aging in adult centers.R4. A plan for dissemination, exploitation, and communication of project results.
