Training Green Logistics Managers to Avoid the Environmental Effects of Logistics

Today the demand on the green methods are increasing in logistics industry.Throughout Europe, people are becoming more eco-friendly. We can see the reasons of the increasing demands in logistics industry because the environmental issues are also increasing very fast. Therefore the transportation, stocking & the additional logistics service providers are becoming more eco-minded to meet these demands for their customers & also they have to stay in the competition within the logistics sector by applying the green methods.Europe made a definition for what it means to be “Green” but the needed acknowledge levels couldn’t be met yet.Specially the need of green managing organisations are also getting more valuable therefore the number of the people who knows the implementing the “Green Methods” should be increased too.There is an urgent need for people who know how to apply a system of Green management within the field of logistics throughout the EU & its partner countries as well as be in line with ISO 39001 where it is the standard for:Road Traffic Safety Management Systems. So, we supplied this need in the logistic sector by our LOG-IN-GREEN Prj.The results of a preliminary needs analysis & through the European Commission's web-site http://ec.europa.eu/transport/modes/road/news/road_safety_encouraging_results_in_2016_en following reasons were identified: • the current education on offer in the field of Green Logistics in Europe was insufficient; consequently, there was a strong educational need in this area, • the introduction of common European standards was a necessity for business to choose to operate on a more comparable Green level, which could be applied across all industries in order for there to be a better consensus what it means to operate Green, • in order to reach beyond current industry standards necessitates training for Green Logistics Managers,To satisfy the needs in Green Logistics, we performed our project satisfactorily with the following features: AIM:The main objective of the prj was identification of framework conditions regarding Green Logistics (in particular meaning of terms,scope of activities & required training) in partner countries & to combine existed best practices to develop a standard practices to be used for a methodology for training & certification.The results of training gave the Green Logistics Manager an overview of his role in the logistics industry, be able to identify Green issues to be tackled & be aware when/where to update the own knowledge base.CONSORTIUM:Partners were chosen from the logistic sector who provided experience and knowhow to our prj.All partners evaluated the importance of tasks in order to reach the objectives & designed the successful outputs & activities for the envisaged Green Logistics Managers.There were 7 partners from Turkey,Spain,Austria & Slovenia, 4 Universities & 3 SME's. CARRYING OUT TRANSNATIONALLY : LOG-IN-GREEN prj was held transnationally covering EU countries all together in order to be common & valid for all over the Europe applying the principles & rules of EU directives.Having different professions from different countries brought variety in the subject as well as sharing ideas brought innovation to the prj.We also aimed the mobility of the youth to work all through Europe, in order to supply this, we had to work transnationally to realize the prj. OUTCOMES:National Reports in English, book with 268 pages, e-learning training tools, vocational training courses, interactive web-site, Animations & Videos, Qualification Dossier with Certification were prepared in English & in all partners' languages, in Turkish, German, Spanish & Slovenian.IMPACT : With its training modules, LOG-IN-GREEN project provides an excellent example of how improvements regarding environmental issues that came up in day-to-day business & how it is useful in the labour market.This serves as the protection of the environment in the logistic field.Besides, it supplies a good opportunity for the youngsters to find jobs easily for themselves having trained by our training modules in Green Logistics. LOG-IN-GREEN Project ; -Strengthens the development of young peoples’ key competences, -Professionalizes youth workers by LOG-IN-GREEN training modules, -Combates the marginalisation of youth at risk, disadvantaged young people, -Brings them to labour market or business life,-Gains the young people to society,-Supplies communication between the institutions relevant for the youth or communication with the public authorities responsible for youth. Target groups are : -Young people aged between 20-28, from the youngs who couldn't attend the University, who has no profession, -Young people having migrant backgrounds, newly arrived immigrants & refugees, -Young people with fewer opportunities (including NEETs, Not in Education, Employment or Training), -Marginalised young people or young people at risk of marginalisation.
