The shift to Education 5.0 addresses the demands of Industry 5.0, which emphasizes human-centric innovation, sustainability, and advanced technologies like AI, robotics, and automation. In South Asia, countries like India and Thailand face challenges in preparing their workforce for this era, particularly in rural areas with limited access to quality STEM education. For instance, many engineering graduates in India lack job-ready skills, and in Thailand, fewer students pursue careers in science and technology. These gaps highlight the need for innovative solutions to make education more relevant and inclusive. The RISE 5.0 Initiative aims to transform STEM education in underserved regions by empowering teachers with modern tools and methods aligned with Industry 5.0. Educators will enhance their skills to deliver the contents on the current technologies like AI, robotics, and IoT while fostering problem-solving and creative thinking skills in students. Clear guidelines, called competence models, will help educators understand the skills needed to teach effectively. A key feature of the project is the establishment of Innovation Hubs and Makerspaces, where teachers and students can collaborate on hands-on projects using cutting-edge technologies. These spaces encourage creativity and experimentation, making learning engaging and practical. Additionally, a Digital Transformation Framework will enable HEIs to use online tools and virtual labs, ensuring students in remote areas access high-quality education. By creating a network of trained educators, the initiative promotes regional collaboration, allowing teachers to share ideas and resources. This approach improves STEM education and supports broader goals like increasing employability, promoting sustainable development, and driving economic growth. Through RISE 5.0, rural communities in South Asia will gain the skills and tools needed to thrive in the future, ensuring inclusivity and innovation towards Industry 5.0.
